MEMORY OF THE PRESENT

Michel André Gauthier is an American photographer born in France who lived in Switzerland before settling in the Washington, D.C., area. His photography's experiential richness, composition, and color undoubtedly relate to his creative background and significant achievements as a painter and an architect.

His continuous quest to produce images beyond the direct image created these surreal scenes without the use of photo editing software. It departs from our subliminal vision to express his sensibility and attitude toward life with a deeper meaning, but certainly not a still life.

His personal and inventive use of the camera projects himself in a vision to perceive the unseen face of the image. The space expands, transcending the emotion.

The creative process obeys the three unity rules: one subject, one capture, and one gesture define the instant. It is a space with no post-editing or stacking, where emotion and truth overcome as the final liberty.
