Michel André Gauthier is an American photographer born in France and based in the Washington, D.C., area. His photography's experiential richness, composition, and color undoubtedly relate to his creative background and significant achievements as a painter and an architect.
His continuous quest to produce images that could not be captured with a camera created these surreal scenes without the use of photo editing software. His personal and inventive way of using the camera projects himself in a vision to see the unseen face of the image. It is a departure from our subliminal vision to express his sensibility and attitude toward life with a deeper meaning, but not a still life.
The image obeys the three unity rules: One subject, one capture, one gesture, and nothing else defines the instant. It is a space with no post-editing, no stacking where emotion and truth overcome.
His forthcoming book La Habana, Grandeur and Mystery, with more than eighty unique photos, includes a study of the chromatic palette of the legendary city.
